Alberto Colon

Alberto Colon, Jr. began his early
training in Fayetteville, N.C. until he
attended The University of the Arts in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on a
Presidential Merit Scholarship. He
has also had extensive training in
fine institutes such as: The North
Carolina School of the Arts, The
University of Akron, Broadway Dance Center
and STEPS on Broadway, to name a few.
Mr. Colon has dance as a soloist with State Street
Ballet of Santa Barbara, Ca. where he
performed such roles as The Beast in
Robert Sund's Beauty & The Beast
which toured to China and Taiwan. He
also performed Petruchio in Sund's
Taming of the Shrew, lead male in
Sund's B.A.N.D. and lead male in
Sund's Nuevo Tango. As a
soloist for Columbia City Ballet, he
performed the Pesant pas de Deux in
William Starrett's Dracula's Revenge
and Neapolitian in Starrett's Swan
Lake.
Alberto has also danced with Ballet Met in Columbus,
Ohio and is currently dancing with
Contempra Dance Company and Schuylkill
Valley Regional Dance Company.
Alberto continues to be a crowd favorite
at many performances. Mr. Colon was
featured on the March 2003 Cover of Dancer
Magazine! Art of Gymnastics and
Cheer students RAVE about "Mr. Alberto"
and his fantastic classes jam packed with
fun AND technique!

Jamie Mullen

Miss Jamie has been dancing and performing
since the age of two. She has extensive
training in dance as far as lyrical,
ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and a bit in
contemporary as well. When she was was six
years old she dove into the world of
gymnastics! She then began competing
heavily in both dance and gymnastic
competitions. She also have held several
titles from pageants, including Miss
Orange County, Little Miss Italy, Queen
Oceana, and more.
Some of Miss Jamie's other
qualifications include training to
interact with children who may have
special needs. She formerly worked for
Special Services School District,
where her duties included being a
one-to-one teachers aide. She has
completed several different training
courses including: Crisis Prevention and
Intervention, Safety on Holding and
Management of Weight, and a
Teacher's Paraprofessional Training
program. Miss Jamie will soon complete a
sign language course as well, with the
hope that gymnastics will be available and
convenient for as many children as
possible!
Jamie is excited to be working at Art
of Gymnastics and Cheer, as well as the
kids, "they have both taught me so much!"
she exclaims. Miss Jamie is excited to be
teaching and looks forward to having a
great year with everybody!
Gina Laky

Gina began studying gymnastics at the age
of ten. Shortly after, she was invited to
join the gymnastics competition team and
began taking dance classes. Gina
continued to study dance and gymnastics
throughout high school. Gina's
gymnastics team won many local, Regional
and National Championships! Once in
High School, Gina became a member of her
Varsity Cheerleading team. Gina was
able to showcase her dance and
gymnastics/tumbling skills during her high
school years. She received her
varsity letter in cheerleading four
consecutive years. Gina also ran track
and field in high school where she too,
lettered in that sport all four years!
Gina attended and graduated from The
College of New Jersey (TCNJ) with a degree
in Communications and a minor in Deaf
Studies. While in college, Gina
taught gymnastics part-time and now she is
happy to return to Art of Gymnastics and
Cheer to teach the tot dance and
gymnastics combo class!!
Elizabeth Franco

Elizabeth grew up in Cape May County New
Jersey where she started gymnastics at the
age of seven. It was at the Art of
Gymnastic and Cheer where she found her
passion for dancing. She has extensive
training in Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Jazz,
and Hip Hop. Elizabeth has traveled across
the country, as far as Las Vegas with her
dance team. She has helped her team win
countless awards including Top Overall
National Routines. During high
school she went on to study dance at a
facility in northern Cape May County.
There, she studied African style dancing
and Contemporary as well as Ballet,
Pointe, Lyrical, Jazz and Hip Hop. She now
specializes in Contemporary dance as well
as Ballet.
Elizabeth attended Florida
Atlantic University as a Psychology major.
It was in Florida when she realized she
was giving up something she had loved for
so long. She came back to Cape May County
in hopes of teaching and following her
dream of dance. Teaching is her first step
to getting back a dance life she has
missed. She is still in college and
continues to study Psychology and
specialize in child development. Elizabeth
is also very involved in volunteer work.
She is a mentor for the Big Brother
Program here in Cape May County. She is
also affiliated with Anorexia Nervosa
Associated Disorder (ANAD) and with the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. No matter how
busy she is she always makes time to help
these causes.
